Oceana Wright is an experienced educator with more than 30 years in public education, fourteen of which are in school administration. Ms Wright held numerous positions in the Texas and Illinois School Districts ranging from Kindergarten teacher to ESL coordinator to Principal. Currently a faculty member at the American College of Education, she is also the Assistant Chair for the Education Leadership Program. Prior to joining the faculty, she was a course writer for Curriculum and Instruction and a collaborator for educational leadership courses at Higher Ed Holdings in Dallas, TX. Ms Wright received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wiley College in Elementary Education and Art. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Supervision from Northwestern State University and successfully completed the Educational Organization and Leadership Program at the University of Illinois in Urbana. She is presently a doctoral candidate at the University of Phoenix. Among some of her many honors are the Flint Hills Alliance of Black School Educators Administrator Award and the Kiwanis International Administrator Award. Ms Wright has served on numerous boards, such as University for Man, Manhattan Teen/Youth Center and the Wonder Workshops. Her organization memberships include African American Critical Issues Network, Illinois Principals Association, and National Alliance of Black School Educators, to name a few. The Illinois State IASA Conference and Elgin City Wide Martin Luther King Community Project are just some of the many committees in which Ms Wright has participated. Oceana Wright provides an endless source of knowledge and experience to the College team. |
